Are Helmets Really Necessary for Adults?

I used to only wear one when I road biked. Now I wear one no matter what. But I'll admit, even this year, I've forgot my helmet and rode anyways.

It's not even going to be possible for me to drive out without my helmet. This is because my helmet will be on my head before mounting my bike. It's like a routine for me which never changes.

Helmet is necessary even for adults. You might be riding cautiously but others might be feeling adventurous and they might bump into you. Not just helmets, you even need to put something to protect your chest and knees.

Absolutely yes.. I mean your brain doesn't care how old you are when you hit the pavement. I've seen too many people get seriously hurt from what seemed like minor falls. Yeah helmets look dorky sometimes but being alive and functional is way more important than looking cool while riding.

Anymore, I feel naked without mine.
It's like telling a cop to go in a shooting encounter without bullet proof vest. I wouldn't dare!

You mentioned good points. It's not only the head that needs to be protected. You need knee pads, shin pads, elbow guards and probably gloves too.

I would say yes, because helmets are very neccesary. No one can predict when an accident will happen. Even experienced riders can't control everything on the road.

I've been saved by a helmet when I was still a kid. I had a horrible crash which sent me flying off my bike and landed with my head. If it wasn't the helmet, that's certain death.
