I rode bikes as a kid and loved them. But when I got my first car, I quit riding and never rode as an adult until 2012. I got a bike because I was overweight and needed exercise badly. I was actually so concerned for my health that I thought I was going to die soon.
Back then I smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day, drank at least 10-15 beers a day, ate nothing but fast food, and did no physical activity.
I bought a cheap mountain bike, rode 20 miles on a rail trail and fell in love with cycling.
Fastforward to today, I'm no longer overweight. I don't smoke or drink anymore. I rarely eat fast food, and I ride my bike every chance I get.
