    Shaving your legs

I'm in the same boat. I'm not very hairy to begin with. If I shaved, no one would probably even notice, and I doubt it would improve my riding. In fact, I've done it once, and all it did was give me uncomfortable chaffing for about a week. I didn't like it and didn't try it again.

    Are your kids into cycling?

I'm too old to have kids, but my stepkids are still young. So, when they have kids, I'm already going to be their PeePaw, and you better believe I'll make sure they know how to ride and enjoy a bike :)

Is Over-Maintenance Making Us Worse Riders?

I sort of lean your way on this. A bike is way easier and way less expensive to keep updated, so you might as well keep it fixed and in tip-top shape as long as you can. A bike can last you a lifetime. A car only lasts so long.

    Safety equipment

Should bicycles be equipped with safety equipment like cars? I’m talking about headlights, brake lights and even turn signals? Some advocates believe in this and they say since cars have to do it legally so should bikes, what do you think?

How do you feel about social media? Is it actually killing our social lives? Do you remember when you used to get out and talk to people more, before social media was around, versus nowadays?

Is It Time to Require Bike Registration and Plates?

Some people want cyclists to pay for bike registration and plates. How do you feel about this? Personally, as long as the prices are fair, since a bike isn't a heavy vehicle that wears down roads, emits no pollutants, and requires no gas consumption, I could agree with it. However, I would not...

Should Cyclists Be Taxed for Using Roads?

Most might say we're already taxed for using the roads. That would be true in most cases; in some way, our tax money is going towards road maintenance and usage. However, we don't pay for a license, license plates, and registration on a bicycle. Some feel that's unfair. Personally, I don't...

Should Trans Athletes Compete in Gender-Based Cycling Events?

This is a controversial topic. I ask that everyone be respectful to each other about it. You can agree or disagree, but please refrain from name-calling or becoming abusive about it. If it gets out of hand, I'll close the comments. Should Trans Athletes Compete in Gender-Based Cycling Events...

Doping in Local Racing: Bigger Problem Than We Admit?

Doping in pro-racing is risky because the race authorities are constantly looking to catch riders doing it. But what about in amateur racing? Like races that YOU can participate in. Many of these still have cash prizes and awards that people strive to win and obtain. But riders could easily...

Solo Touring as a Woman: Brave or Reckless?

Solo touring or bikepacking should be for everyone, right? How about women on their own? I don't write this to be sexist because I feel that everyone should be able to tour or bikepack on their own, regardless of their gender. I also feel like everyone should be able to do that without being...

    Are Bikepackers Damaging Natural Areas?

Do you think bikepackers are bad for the environment or natural areas? Most bikepackers will make their own campsite if they can't find one. They'll put up a tent or bivvy on any flat spot they find or hang a hammock in the trees. Some naturalists argue this is bad and damaging to natural...

Is Credit Card Touring 'Real' Touring?

What do you think about credit card bike touring and bikepacking? This is when you get your food from restaurants and sleep in hotels and Airbnb. People who might argue this is 'real' touring or bikepacking might say you should pack and cook your own food and sleep in a tent on the ground at a...

Are Carbon Bikes Too Fragile to Be Worth the Trouble?

Aluminum bikes can be fixed if they crack or break. Welding them is significantly easier than welding other materials used for manufacturing bicycles. Carbon fibre, however, is a lot more difficult to repair, and in some cases, impossible to repair. Could you imagine spending all that money...
