Mountain biking can be dangerous.

The injuries you can sustain from mountain biking can be pretty severe. You have a bigger chance of wrecking and wrecking against some pretty gnarly terrain that can cause a lot of broken bones, bleeding, and worse.

Do you carry extra insurance because of this? Because you have a bigger chance of getting hurt?

I carry additional accident insurance and helicopter insurance. If I get hurt cycling, most of the time it'll be in an area where I'll have to be helicopter-evacuated. That is an expensive bill. I pay $100 a year to have that insurance. I'd say it's worth it because that network is everywhere I go biking or hiking. The accident insurance is another coverage I might actually need if I get hurt out there.

How about you folks? Do you think it's important to have additional coverage for doing stuff like mountain biking? If so, do you have this coverage?
